Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning delicately exfoliates the uppermost layer of your skin, targeting dead skin cells and undesired “peach fuzz” for a revitalized look. Using a surgical blade, the procedure skims away 3-4 weeks worth of dead skin  cells and fine hairs, it also helps improve the skin’s texture.

The results aim to give smoother skin that not only looks rejuvenated but also encourages the production of new collagen and contributes to a healthier overall complexion.

Dermaplaning for True Exfoliation

Not all professional treatments take multiple sessions to see results. Dermaplaning is the ideal ‘quick fix’ treatment taking just 30 minutes. This is a method of deep exfoliation using a surgical grade scalpel that gently scrapes off the top layer of dulling, dead skin and fine hair. Your skin is instantly luminous with a glow that is impossible to achieve from at home exfoliation.

The Benefits of Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is incredibly popular amongst celebrities as it also helps eliminate the ‘peach fuzz’ that can often leave your makeup looking cakey. Removal of this facial hair, along with the dead skin cells, creates a truly bright and beautiful complexion. It also allows for much greater penetration of your skincare products too, leaving you with longer lasting results.

Who is Dermaplaning for?

Dermaplaning can be used on all skin types except those with active or deep cystic acne. It’s recommended that any breakouts clear before undergoing this treatment. While it may sound quite harsh, dermaplaning is actually very gentle.  It could also be compared to shaving your legs only in this case, someone is very gently scraping the face.

FAQ

Why should you have Dermaplaning?

As we age our skin turnover decreases creating a build up of dull looking skin, this treatment:

  • Reduces fine lines and acne scarring
  • Removes vellous hair
  • Increases cell turnover promoting younger, fresher skin
  • Removes trapped oil and dirt
  • Safe treatment for all skin types and ages
  • Results are immediately visible
  • Better penetration of your skincare products
  • No downtime required, you can get back to your routine immediately.
Will my facial hair grow back darker?

Not at all. Hair on the face is a type known as villous hair, rather than the dark, thick terminal hair that grows elsewhere.  Shaving does not in any way cause vellus hair follicles to transform into terminal hair follicles.

What happens after the treatment?

You will notice an  increased glow to the skin, evening of complexion, reduction of hyperpigmentation, improved skin tone, reduction of ‘peach fuzz’ vellus hair. Skin may be a little pink immediately after treatment but this normally subsides within an hour or so. Peach fuzz / vellus hairs do not come back thicker and stronger. It will grow back at exactly the same rate, thickness and texture as before.

Repeat treatment is recommended once every 6 weeks.
